Esporte Clube Noroeste

Esporte Clube Noroeste, usually known simply as Noroeste, is a Brazilian football (soccer) club based in Bauru. Named after a now-defunct railway, Noroeste is a very traditional team within São Paulo state. Their home ground is "Alfredo de Castilho" stadium (c. 18,840). Founded on September 1, 1910, the club became professional only in 1948. Before that year, it won the Campeonato do Interior, then-most prestigious tournament among São Paulo countyside teams, in 1943. Ten years later (1953), Noroeste were promoted to Campeonato Paulista (state championship) first division. Until 1966, they played against many of the best teams of country, including legendary Pelé's Santos. After that year, Noroeste has built a history of promotions and relegations to the eighties. The club reached Campeonato Brasileiro (national first division) once, in 1978. The nineties marked the worst period of Noroeste history. They were relegated to Campeonato Paulista Série A-3 (state third division) twice (1994 and 1999) and come back to Série A-1 (state first division) only in 2005. At 2006 season, Noroeste finished Campeonato Paulista in fifth position, the best in whole club history. They were in Copa do Brasil (Brazil Cup) for first time, but lost to 15 de Novembro (Campo Bom) yet on early stages. On Série C (national third division), Noroeste reached third phase, but failed to promote. 2007 season ended with a good general performance for the club, despite first round disqualification in Série C. Noroeste finished 7th on Campeonato Paulista, their third best effort ever. The club was second to Guaratinguetá in Campeonato do Interior and advanced to second round in Copa do Brasil, where runners-up Figueirense defeated them.

Nação Corinthiana

Brothers Henrique, José and Luis Poppe were responsible for founding Sport Club Internacional. The greatest difficulty encountered by the Poppes, when they moved from São Paulo to Porto Alegre in 1901, was not finding a club allowing the democratic practice of football. At the time there were only two clubs in the city (the Fussball and the Grêmio Porto Alegrense), but those were private for those who had German ancestry. In 1909 the Poppes convened a group of students and ordinary employees from Porto Alegre and trading to a meeting, scheduled for the day April 4, 1909, at number 141 in Redenção Avenue (now Avenue João Pessoa, 1025), with the clear objective of founding a new football club. Thus began the history of Sport Club Internacional. More than 40 people also voted to select the name of the club, established in honor of Sport Club Internacional (from São Paulo). Since then the clubs were usually identified with colonies of immigrants from certain ethnic or nationality (such as São Paulo Palestra Italy, for Italians, the Vasco da Gama, for Portuguese immigrants etc.), The name "Internacional" was scope to identify a club where "all" could play, regardless of origin, race or social status. Emerged as a club genuinely democratic and without any kind of discrimination. Nicknames: Colorado (The Red), Inter, Nação Vermelha (Red Nation), O Clube do Povo (The People's Club), Filhos da Resistência (Sons of the Resistance), Celeiro de Ases (Factory of Aces)

The Galaxy operated under a rare two-quarterback strategy, utilizing both Delhomme and Pat Barnes; the pair was known as the "Double-Headed Quarterback Monster". The unorthodox strategy worked, as the Galaxy won World Bowl VII over the Barcelona Dragons. We were not the most talented team, but we just played together, had the right chemistry. ” —Jake Delhomme, Following his success in Europe, he was brought back to New Orleans as the full-time third-string quarterback.
